Titus 2 Woman, Conclusion

This post will conclude my Titus 2 Woman series. These last 9 verses pretty much support verses 1-5 about Christian behavior, but also stress that the grace of God brings salvation to everyone, and teaches us to deny ungodliness and worldly lusts, to live soberly, righteously and godly, today and every day.
Titus 2, 7-15, "In all things shewing thyself a pattern of good works: in doctrine shewing uncorruptness, gravity, sincerity, Sound speech, that cannot be condemned; that he that is of the contrary part may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say of you. Exhort servants to be obedient unto their own masters, and to please them well in all things; not answering again; Not purloining, but shewing all good fidelity; that they may adorn the doctrine of God our Saviour in all things. For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works. These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee."
Based on verse 12, there is no way to live a godly life without Christ. It is His grace that teaches us how to live godly lives, we must be willing vessels; to lay down the lusts of the world, the old habits and ways, and replace them with righteous living. Some changes in life style and behavior are immediate, others take a life time, and while we are striving to live a life pleasing to God, we are to also be looking for Christ’s return, Matthew 24:42-51, living every day as though He may come today, because who knows, He very well may! I don’t want my Lord to come and find me wallowing in the mire of this world, I want Him to find His servant living a life that glorifies Him. He redeemed me, and you, through His blood we are made pure, and a peculiar people, shouldn’t we BE who He made us to be?

Like a lot of women, I have struggled with living a life that is pleasing to my Lord; oh, I’ll go for a while ‘doing’ really good, ‘doing’ all the right things, but, it’s not about doing. It’s about submitting to Him and His will. It’s about putting the old man away, because he died when we got saved, and letting Christ live through us; and we cannot ‘do’ this unless we are humble and submissive to God.
Between our very sin nature and the up-bringing in this sin-sick world, submission can be so very hard. A lot of people misunderstand what submission is. The world will tell you if you are submissive you are a door mat. That you allow others to walk all over you and that you have no thoughts or opinions of your own. But that is NOT how godly submission works.
Godly submission is not letting your husband or anyone else run all over you or take advantage of you, it is admitting that God’s way is better and that He knows what is best for your life; it is allowing Him to work through you all the time. Don’t pass up the blessings God has for a submissive servant, and a submissive wife, because the world says negative things about it. Keep this in mind, if the world agrees with something you are doing, odds are, it is not something that is pleasing to God.
It's take a long time for me to come to the understanding that living a life that is pleasing to God is not about ‘doing’ things; don’t get me wrong, He likes it when we read His Word and when we pray and when we are faithful in church service, but it is so much more than that, it is a change in attitude, a change in heart. When I was in the ‘doing’ mode, if my morning routine changed and I failed to do my daily reading one morning I’d feel so guilty and get discouraged, and the effect was like a giant snowball. But God didn’t hate me for not reading that morning. Since I’ve learned to be more submissive to Him I find that I forget less and less and thirst more and more for that morning Bible study.

Forget all those things the world says you need to do, they are the only ones expecting you to be perfect, our heavenly Father doesn’t lay that burden on you. Come boldly to the throne of grace, receive the gift of salvation, and allow the Holy Spirit to lead, guide and direct your every step and thought; you will find life so much easier to deal with when your humble and submissive to the Father.
So, in a nut shell, to be the Titus 2 woman, the first thing you need, if you haven’t already, is to be saved! My friend, Jesus loves you. He already knows all about you, there is nothing hid from Him. He died for YOU. You can’t work your way to heaven or salvation, and Jesus is THE way, He is the way, the truth and the life, no man comes to the Father except through Him.
If you would like to have your sins forgiven, be adopted into the family of God, to live, if you’d like a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, you can stop right here, repent of your sins, and ask Jesus to come into your heart … here is a sample prayer
Dear Jesus, I know I am a sinner and that I need You. Please forgive me of my sins, and Jesus, please come into my heart and be the Lord of my life. I love you Jesus, thank you. Amen.
It is really that simple. If you prayed this prayer, or one like it, from your heart, please shoot me an email so I can rejoice with you!
Titus 2 gives us a list of characteristics of living a holy life, they are
Speak things that are sound doctrine
Be sober
Be grave, serious
Be temperate
Be sound in your faith, love and patience
Not accusing anyone falsely
Not given to much wine
Be a teacher of good things
Teaching young women to be sober, and to love their husbands and children
Teaching young women to be discrete and chaste, modest
Teaching young women how to be a keeper of their home
Teaching young women to be obedient {submissive} to their own husbands
AND ..
being dependable and solid in good works
being solid in doctrine
Having sound speech that cannot be condemned
Giving no one anything bad to say about you
While this list IS long, and looks rather intimidating, when we submit to the Lord and let the Holy Spirit work through us, it is possible to do/don’t do, the things listed above, and more.

  9. I've always struggled with being too works-based in my life. I definitely want to live and "do" for God, but at the end of the day it matters more that my heart is changed, which will in turn change my actions.
