Personal Responsibility

Personal Responsibility

The word of the Lord came unto me again, saying, What mean ye, that ye use this proverb concerning the land of Israel, saying, The fathers have eaten sour grapes, and the children's teeth are set on edge? - Ezekiel 18:1-2 your father's, mother's, sister's, brother's, husband's, wife's or whoever's sins are not an excuse for your sins
He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed. - Proverbs 13:20

Daddy's, or father figures, are very powerful influences over children. Children, sons mostly, tend to walk in the footsteps of their father, or male influence.
Exodus 20:5 - Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;
You are responsible for you, regardless of where you came from or how you were raised, you are responsible for you and your actions and how you handle life.
What mean ye, that ye use this proverb concerning the land of Israel, saying, The fathers have eaten sour grapes, and the children's teeth are set on edge? - Ezekiel 18:2
You cannot let your past influence how you live for, or not for, the Lord.
What mean ye, that ye use this proverb concerning the land of Israel, saying, The fathers have eaten sour grapes, and the children's teeth are set on edge? As I live, saith the Lord God, ye shall not have occasion any more to use this proverb in Israel. Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine: the soul that sinneth, it shall die. But if a man be just, and do that which is lawful and right, If he beget a son that is a robber, a shedder of blood, and that doeth the like to any one of these things, - Ezekiel 18:2-5;10
[there can be a wicked parent and righteous parent, or visa versa]
Now, lo, if he beget a son, that seeth all his father's sins which he hath done, and considereth, and doeth not such like, - Ezekiel 18:14
You don't have to chose to live a life of sin just because your parents did; you are responsible for yourself and your actions. You are what you because it is what you chose to be and choices and decisions you've made.
Whatever your hearts desire, that is what you are
Habits that don't honor God are stumbling blocks between you and God
When you look to God, odds are you are going to do what is right
God looks at your sins, He doesn’t blame others for your sins; you have the choice, to sin, or not to sin
It is time to start teaching our children personal responsibility - again
Confess when they do wrong
Stand up and admit when they do wrong
Quit pointing the finger at others
Take your thoughts captive
Act properly
Choose friends wisely - Proverbs 13:20 - He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed.
Dress properly
Speak properly
Respect authority
Walk with God - if your not walking with God, your serving idols
That hath not eaten upon the mountains, neither hath lifted up his eyes to the idols of the house of Israel, hath not defiled his neighbour's wife, - Ezekiel 18:15
Moral purity - read, watch, eat, talk, do things that are honorable to God and put away and stop doing those things that are not honoring to Him
Honesty and integrity
Eternal destiny - The soul that sinneth, it shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son: the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him. - Ezekiel 18:20
The soul that sins shall die - repent, repent, repent; your sins separate you from God
Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me. Revelation 3:20
When are you going to start taking responsibility for your actions?
Remember, when you get rid of sinful habits and 'clean house' spiritually, satan wants to come back and bring 7 of his buddies, so be sure you fill that new 'empty' spot with something godly
