How to Strive to Have a Godly Marriage - Impatience

What does impatience do?
Impatience is hurtful, and can hurt your relationships with your parents, children, spouse, friends; everyone, impatience will make you respond wrongfully and act when you should be waiting on God. Usually an impatient person is also a selfish person; they want what they want when they want it.
Matthew 18: 21-22 - Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times? Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven.
If you are an impatient person, let God develop patience in you. Jesus is our example, He was patient and He was compassionate.
Luke 21:19 - In your patience possess ye your souls.
Hebrews 10:36 - For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise. {you miss out on this from God when your impatient}
Romans 15:5 - Now the God of patience and consolation grant you to be likeminded one toward another according to Christ Jesus:
Revelation 1:9 - I John, who also am your brother, and companion in tribulation, and in the kingdom and patience of Jesus Christ, was in the isle that is called Patmos, for the word of God, and for the testimony of Jesus Christ.
Patience – accepting a different situation without giving God a deadline
Psalm 46:10 - Be still, and know that I am God:
Patience is not tolerance of evil or wrong doing; patience produces not being angry, not acting childish, being calm when facing adversity, non-evil attitude. Patience produces bitterness and unforgiveness.
I am so thankful God is a patient God, He is so patient with us. Is that the attitude we have? “Lord, have patience with me” We can’t repay the Lord, Jesus paid our sin debt for us because we are born into sin.
James 1:19 - Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath: - be slow to anger.

If we are patient we will be less likely to sin in wrath.

II Peter 3:9 - The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
Revelation 2:2 - I know thy works, and thy labour, and thy patience, and how thou canst not bear them which are evil: and thou hast tried them which say they are apostles, and are not, and hast found them liars:
Impatience and pride go hand in hand. We must turn our lives over to God to learn how to be patient. You can be gentle and firm to correct someone while being very effective. God has compassion and mercy on us, shouldn’t we show that same mercy and compassion toward others?
Psalm 103:13 - Like as a father pitieth his children, so the LORD pitieth them that fear him.
Anger is unjust and is not a solution in training or teaching anyone, more so, teaching children, we are not to slander or mock, we are to be patient; walk them through whatever we are teaching them as many times necessary, patiently, show/teach them over and over how to do it.
Mark 10:13-14;16 - And they brought young children to him, that he should touch them: and his disciples rebuked those that brought them. But when Jesus saw it, he was much displeased, and said unto them, Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God. And he took them up in his arms, put his hands upon them, and blessed them.
Christ was being patient with the children and His disciples. He rebuked the evil with compassion, and this is how we should be, showing patience, compassion, love and kindness.
I Corinthians 13:1-8 - Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal. And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing. And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing. Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth; Iwhether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.

Love is patient.

Anger and impatience shown to a child will most likely turn them into a rebel.
Want to know how to show your spouse and children you love them? Be patient with them. Patience suffers long {I Corinthians 13}. Being impatient stops the blessings God has for you in that particular situation. Impatience keeps you from being who God wants you to be. It takes patience to bring forth good fruit.
Romans 5:3-5 - And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; And patience, experience; and experience, hope: And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.
II Corinthians 6:4 - But in all things approving ourselves as the ministers of God, in much patience, in afflictions, in necessities, in distresses,
James 1:3-4 - Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.
Luke 8:15 - But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience.

How to Get Patience:
1. Seek and pray for patience. Daniel and David prayed three times a day, morning, noon, and night.
2. Model your life after someone who is patient.
3. Read God’s Word
4. Yield to the Holy Spirit
5. Learn and exhibit the fruits of the Spirit
II Peter 3:9 - The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
God is longsuffering to us.
Have you repented and told God you are a sinner? Have you received Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior?
