Our Perfect Example
John 1:19-29, “
And this is the record of John, when the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him, Who art thou? And he confessed, and denied not; but confessed, I am not the Christ. And they asked him, What then? Art thou Elias? And he saith, I am not. Art thou that prophet? And he answered, No. Then said they unto him, Who art thou? that we may give an answer to them that sent us. What sayest thou of thyself? He said, I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness, Make straight the way of the Lord, as said the prophet Esaias. And they which were sent were of the Pharisees. And they asked him, and said unto him, Why baptizest thou then, if thou be not that Christ, nor Elias, neither that prophet? John answered them, saying, I baptize with water: but there standeth one among you, whom ye know not; He it is, who coming after me is preferred before me, whose shoe's latchet I am not worthy to unloose. These things were done in Bethabara beyond Jordan, where John was baptizing. The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.”
Jesus had everything He needed in heaven, yet He chose to leave His Father’s Kingdom and His glory, to come to earth, born poor to a carpenter, to be THE sacrifice for us, in total obedience to the Father.
Jesus was obedient to the Father, giving Him His all.
Christ was obedient unto death. God wants us to be obedient. So, what happens when we don’t obey God? Among other things, we experience anger, disappointment, and guilt.
Jesus brought us a very simple plan of salvation. Repent and receive.
The most important decision you’ll ever make in your life is whether to follow Christ. The Bible says if we don’t choose to follow Christ we are already condemned.
When we keep our eyes on Christ life is so much easier to bear.
God has a specific purpose for each of our lives, and living in His purpose and will for your life may not always be easy but it will defiantly be the most rewarding and God will supply all we need; strength, courage, faith .. everything, physical, spiritual, all you need.
You were bought with a price, a heavy price paid for by Christ. He took the punishment we deserved, on the cross, in total obedience to the Father.
Knowing what Christ did for us, how can we not be obedient to Him and the Father? How dare us and our prideful selves to think for one moment we can get through this life without Him.
Jesus died for me and you, trust and obey.
