Joshua

Joshua
Joshua
The book of Joshua begins with the Lord telling Joshua that Moses has died and Joshua has been instructed to lead the people over the Jordan river to the land which the Lord has given to them. The book of Joshua is a tale of war and peace. In the first twelve chapters, the people of Israel conquer the land of Canaan. But...when Joshua fails to inquire of the Lord when the Gibeonites send 'emissaries' to sign a peace tready, Israel not only disobeys the Lord, but they end up defending rather than destroying their enemies!
Through three military campaigns involving more than thirty enemy armies, they learn a valuable lesson under Joshua's capable leadership: victory comes through faith in God and obedience to His Word rather than by military might or numerical superiority. In the final twelve chapters, peace reigns as the people of God divide up their new homeland.
